DEan Bonzani grew up singing and performing. After an early period of puppetry, he appeared in his first musical in sixth grade, and spent his high school years onstage in musicals, one act plays, reader’s theater, dramatic interp, pantomime, and marionette productions. Voted “Most Talented” in his graduating class 0f 1980, he was awarded a scholarship to Northern Arizona University for theater. He also studied theater and music at Arizona State University, before settling in Flagstaff, where he began performing solo gigs as a singer/songwriter, and with his various ensembles. For many years, he hosted the notorious Thursday night open mic at the Mad Italian Public House, a scene that launched a number of popular underground Flagstaff musical acts, and whose mayhem and majesty will be forever embedded in the minds of the crowds who packed the place.
